Boris immigrated to the US in 1974 with $37 dollars, little dreaming that his journey would lead him on the path to becoming a successful entrepreneur. In 1977, Boris started Cortec® in his garage in Hugo, Minnesota, going on to temporarily sell his successful corrosion inhibitor company before buying it back and turning it into a multi-million dollar enterprise on three contents with distribution in 100+ countries. His success eventually brought him back to Croatia to reinvest in his homeland—running twice for president and starting CorteCros® and EcoCortec®, two European branches of his company. Boris has won many business and industry awards and distinguished himself in the corrosion inhibiting community as a NACE Fellow and winner of the NACE Frank Newman Speller award. With 66 patents issued to his name and many contributions to NACE/AMPP publications, Boris is a true visionary for tackling incredible challenges and exploring uncharted territory in biobased products and biosolutions.
